I strongly support all south Indian cinema and each industry is standing in its own way 1. Telugu - producing more action and masala movies which makes the producers happy. they try least amount of experimental movies and even if its done then it is by any NRI (e.g. devagutta or rajesh touchriver-he is a malayali by birth actually) 2. Kannada - yet long way to go very limited to Karnataka only. Few decades back Balachander a great director used to say if you want to watch good film then watch Kannada movies. But, since the kannada audiences moved towards to Bollywood so no one shown interests to improve except few recent good movies like lucia 3. Malayalam - too much documentary and realistic. but not always commercially well. Recognized outside the state very rarely. But, the only industry to have lot of good actors and most the lead actress from Kerala. summarily Malayalam industry is producing award oriented movies. 4. Thamizh - Of all the industry, this is the one which is producing movies in all genres next to Bollywood. You can see Rajini, Vj and ajith movies as masala/action, Surya, Vikram and Kamalhassan experimental and good story movies, and lot of award winning movies like thangameengal, aranya kaandam. Not to speak about the music. ARR, Ilayaraja, Yuvan, HJ and more are recognized regional level. In the director's list Maniratnam, Bala, amir, Balachander, Bharathiraja, Balumahendra, shankar, ar Murugadoss and so on.
So, I personally believe Thamizh has the potential to stand out of all the regional industries in the way of movie making, technical and Music industry.

Chennai: A huge prison set is being constructed under the supervision of National Award winning art director Thota Tharani for megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming 150th film, which is tentatively titled ‘Kathilantodu’.
"Some of the initial portion of the film takes place in a prison. The team has been working on this set since the beginning of this month. Chiranjeevi will play one of the inmates who escapes from the prison," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
To be directed by V.V. Vinayak, the film is the official Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster ‘Kaththia’.
Chiranjeevi will be seen essaying dual roles.
Ram Charan will be producing this project under his newly floated family banner.
The principal shooting will commence from June 20 in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.
